Audre Geraldine Lorde [1934-1992] was born in Harlem, New York City (February 18, 1934) and died in St. Croix (November 17 1992). She was a multi-faceted writer and activist. In her own words, she was a 'black lesbian, mother, warrior poet'. Her parents were from Grenada. She died of cancer in 1992 after a 14 year struggle.
